Clemson was playing like the best ACC team several weeks ago, but I'm not so sure now, NC State smashed 'em.

There isn't a team in the the East that would have won the ACC last season, this season UGA would be a contender and maybe SC (depending on Lattimore's health). Last season FSU was the 2nd best ACC team and that dominated UF and controlled SC throughout.

I didn't realize you were arguing that statement biggin. IMO the SEC East is a joke. There are 4 major conferences with 2 divisions and the SEC East is among the worst of the 8.

OK, name them. Name the divisions that are better than the SEC East.

UT/VT games every year would be a bigger rivalry than the Michigan/Ohio St game!

That game only means something to the people this side of Wytheville and this side of Morristown the rest of the two states could give a darn about it. Tennesse and KY would be and is a bigger rivalry than what VT/UT is would be. Even when they meet in a bowl game it isn't thought of as anything but another game by anyone other than people in extreme SWVA and NETN.

Im tellin ya man Lane Stadium and Neyland Stadium would be sold out every year due to the overwhelming number of fans from Blacksburg to Knoxville. It would be bigger than the UT UK game in two seasons. The main reason is it would be a more competitive ball game and not near as lop sided. Not to mention that VT would bring a Huge number of fans to every SEC game they would play. I went to the Bama VT Chick-fil-a Kick off and it was over 100,000 people at the Georgia dome with a big ole chunk of em wearin Burned Orange! The hokies have one of the biggest followings in sports not just football either. Their basketball fans are just as roudy and faithful. Looking at if from a Basketball stand, VT would be very competitive there as well in the SEC. Just my opinion but VT is a better fit in the SEC east than Mizzu or Texas A&M. Back to the Blacksburg to Knoxville comment. Thats an area that is roughly the same size as most fan bases in America. It would be almost like a very good In State rivalry.

Im a hokie by heart but I also love the SEC and its proven that the SEC is better than the ACC as a whole no matter how you cut it. If the ACC wins the last three regular season games its still SEC's lead with a record of 15-13. Numbers dont lie.

Lane and Neyland are sold out nearly every game no matter who they play. I never said it wouldn't be a good game but to consider it an Iron Bowl or The Game type of rivalry is jsut absurd. I am sure VT outnumbered UT at that Peach Bowl, 7-5 UT really had no business being in that game and had to go to OT against KY just to get there. UT fans didn't really care about going to Atlanta again especially knowing that VT was a much better team that year. You may also want to get to more places than little ole Lane because the GA Dome only holds around 73,000 for a football game, I know it looks huge compared to Lane but it is not in the same area code as 100,000. Heck if there was any kind of rivalry there they would have played more than 7 times with 3 of those being before 1900 and only once since 1937. And you may want to look at your map again the area from Knoxvegas to Roanoke in just TN and VA is roughly the size of half of West VA and nowhere close to the size of most teams fan bases which I would wager for most state schools is the approximate size of that state, let alone a state that splits two major state schools such as VA. I agree that I would love to see VT in the SEC East over Mizou because it would help them in recruiting and I believe they could actually become competitive there. But at the same time I don't see the UT/VT game becoming any bigger than UT/Georgia or VT/WVU.

Yeah, I gotta agree with TB here. VT/UT would be a HUGE rivalry in our area but it would never be at the level of the Iron Bowl, UM/tOSU, OU/OSU, aTm/UT, UT/UGA, UT/UF, hell UT/UK, UGA/GT, etc.. If this rivalry started 20 years ago, it could be very big now but with the teams playing so few times, it would take years of consistent games between good teams before it would become a true big game.

I would almost guarentee you that those other rivalries started just like this one would, one year at a time. in Twenty years the VT UT rivalry would be as big as any national rivalry.

If you'll notice also, most of those rivalries are within the same conference and/or state. I'm with Biggin and The Beast, it will be big in NETN/SWVA. But, go just as far south as Chattanooga or go north to NOVA and you'll find almost nobody cares if VT/UT play each other.

Also, VT should be in the SEC before Mizzou. Mizzou has no business in the SEC. NONE.
